How do I get a tourist visa for Azerbaijan?

You Will Need To Apply, Receive, & Print Your Visa Before Flying

  • Step 1: Apply online. Visit the Azerbaijani Government E-Visa page and fill out the application.

  • You will need:

    • A scan of your passport

    • An address for your place of stay

    • Select range of dates for validity

    • The cost of application is about $25 USD. If your card is not accepted, try adding a travel notice with your bank.

  • The visa will usually be returned within 3 business days to your email.

  • Note: local holidays and time difference may affect how long it takes to receive your visa.

  • Apply on arrival:

    • As of May, 2024: Officially applying for visas on arrival is suspended due to the Covid pandemic. Although there have been anecdotal reports that visas have been issued on arrival for extenuating travel circumstances.

      For this purpose, there are terminals available in the airport before the customs desk.

  • Step 2: Print your visa and make sure to take it with you. You will need to present it when you land in Azerbaijan, and your airline will likely need to see it before you take off.

  1. Is it hard to get a tourist visa to Azer?

    • No!

  2. Do I need a tourist visa for Azer?

    • Yes! The chances are if English is your first language, that you will need a visa. But here is a list of nationalities that can enter Azerbaijan without a visa: “visa-free” countries

  3. How long does a tourist visa last in Azer?

    • A tourist visa allows you to stay in the country for up to 30 days. However, if you stay 15 days or more you must register your place of stay with the State Migration Service. The process is fairly simple, and can be done online.

    • Your visa will have a 90 day validity period. This means that you may come at any time and stay up to 30 days as long as all your time is within that 90 day window.

  4. Can I apply for tourist visas for my family members or other people?

    • Yes you can! There is an option within the application process to apply for someone else.

  5. Is there a limit to how many times I can apply for a tourist visa?

    • To our knowledge, no.

  6. How soon after visiting Azerbaijan can I reapply for another tourist visa?

    • There is no stated requirement.

  7. Are tourist visas multi entry?

    • No.

  8. If I need my visa quickly, what can I do?

    • You can apply for an urgent E-visa. These are reviewed within 3 hours of application, regardless of working hours and holidays.

    • If you’re really in a bind, you can apply for a visa on arrival at a terminal. If the airline will allow you to fly to Azerbaijan without presenting your visa first.
